What Are The Different Odds Formats?

Nfl Betting Odds
Fractional: This odds format is by far the most common in the UK and represents odds as a fraction, such as 2/1. The fraction displays how much a punter will win on the left of the line if they place the stake shown to the right of the line. They will also receive their stake back.

Decimal: Decimal odds are the second most prevalent format within the UK but are most popular in continental Europe. For that reason they are sometimes referred to as either Continental or European odds. In this format, odds are displayed as a number to two decimal places and punters can work out how much their winnings would be – including stake – by multiplying their stake by that number. In decimal format, therefore, 2/1 would be displayed as 3.00.
Vegas Betting Odds
American: As the name rather gives away, American odds are the format favoured on the other side of the Atlantic. These odds can be either positive or negative and essentially display either how much money must be wagered to win $100 or how much will be won if $100 is wagered. In this format, then, 2/1 would be displayed as 200.00 whereas 1/2 would appear as -200.00.
Hong Kong: Popular in Asia but less common elsewhere, Hong Kong odds give the same information as fractional odds but expressed as a decimal. In other words, they show how much your winnings will be exclusive of your stake and as such 2/1 would be displayed as 2.00.
Indonesian: This odds format is very similar to the American odds format, except that it displays either how much must be wagered or how much will be won for a profit of or from a wager of one unit rather than 100. 2/1 in this format, therefore, would be expressed as 2.00 and 1/2 as -2.00.
Malay: Malay odds essentially display odds in exactly the opposite way to all other formats and do so as a decimal. For this format, then, 2/1 would be expressed as – 0.50 and 1/2 as 0.50. Due to its unusual and contrary nature, the Malay odds format is rarely found in the UK.
