TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 18 BETTING PREVIEW
Stage 18 has five categorized climbs and goes up and down from the get-go. The first climb is the Cormet de Roselend (19 kilometres with a 6% average gradient). The descent runs onto the Col de Saisies (15km at 5.1%). Then, it comes the Col des Aravis appears (6.7 kilometres at 7%).
The core of the race is expected to be the steep and partly unpaved Plateau des Glières. This mountain climbs for 6 kilometres at 11.2% and never drops below 10%. Plus, it is only 30 kilometres away from the finish line and it containst two kilometers of false flat gravel roads.
The last ascent is the Col des Fleuries, which is a 5.5 kilometres climb at 4.6% that the riders crest with 10 kilometres out, before a 10 kilometer descent to the finish in La Roche-sur-Foron.
Stamina will be a key factor, Bahrein-McLaren will not run in front of the peloton and GC contenders are extremely fatigued. A big breakaway could take advantage of it although riders with limited time trialing skills may opt to strike earlier with an all-or-nothing attack.
Our Stage 18 Favorites
GC duellists Primoz Roglic, Tadej Pogacar and Miguel Angel Lopez (correctly tipped as stage 17 winner by our tipsters) are the logical favorites should Jumbo Visma (or Astana) keep things tight.Mikel Landa was the first of the favourites to get dropped in the final part of the Col de la Loze, and we give the Spaniard no chance to bounce back on Thursday. The same could be said about Nairo Quintana while Egan Bernal has left the Tour given his lack of fitness.
Only a huge surprise could see riders like Enric Mas, Adam Yates, Richie Porte and Rigoberto Uran beat the Slovenian duo and the Astana's captain.
Any other likely scenario?
Daniel Martinez, Warren Barguil and Maximilian Schachmann are likely attackers, with good chances to upset the favorites. This stage could be the last chance also for riders like Thomas De Gendt and Alessandro De Marchi, or for Frenchmen such as David Gaudu, Nans Peters, Pierre Rolland and Valentin Madouas. The latter has been quite brilliant in the last few days.Julian Alaphilippe was the first rider over the top of the Plateau des Glières in 2018, en route to the stage win and we expect the Frenchman to escape again, trying to make the difference on descents.
Lennard Kamna and Richard Carapaz should be tired after two hard days spent in the breakaway while Marc Hirschi, Pello Bilbao, Marc Soler, Jesus Herrada, Team Ineos's Pavel Sivakov and Michal Kwiatkowski could be the long shots of the day.
We would overlook Thibaut Pinot, Alejandro Valverde and Daniel Martin again.

TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 18 BETTING PREVIEW
The biggest hurdles on the 18th stage are the Côte de Madiran (1.2 kilometres at 7% ) and the Côte d’Anos (2.1 kilometres at 4.6%). The final ascent is crested with 18.5 kilometres remaining. Hence, if the sprint teams don’t give the breakaway too much leash it should come down to a clash of fast men again.Anyway, following the onslaught in the Alpine stages the fastest sprinters are already home, including Fernando Gaviria, Dylan Groenewegen, Andrè Greipel, Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel.
With so many sprinters already having abandoned the race, who can win on Thursday?
Peter Sagan is the favourite #1 one for this stage. But the Slovakian ace crashed on the descent of the Col de Val Louron-Azet in the 17th stage and required medical attention. Probably Sagan will avoid any risk as he's on his way to win a sixth green jersey in seven years. Some reports suggest that his only goal now is to reach Paris.
Hence, Arnaud Demare and Alexander Kristoff have their best chance to claim a stage win this year, having been pipped by Sagan a couple of times after the Alps.
Other possible riders expectred to be in the mix are Sonny Colbrelli, Andrea Pasqualon, John Degenkolb and Edvald Boasson Hagen. We don't think they have enough power to claim the success but these riders can surely make the Top 3.
Dark horses?
Few names. Magnus Cort Nielsen could try to sprint while Maximiliano Richeze, Cristophe Laporte and Timothy Dupont will surely compete for a spot in the Top 10.
In case of winning breakaway, don't rule out riders such as Greg Van Avermaet, Jasper Stuyven, Michael Valgren, Daniel Oss and Oliver Naesen.
